I’m even more convinced after a WONDERFUL stay at the Aldeia Da Fonte that most people who take the time to write reviews are the ones who are disgruntled! We pre-booked the Aldeia Da Fonte and almost cancelled our reservations after reading some of the reviews people had posted. I was determined to take the time to say I’m so... more

They really need to do something about their hired help, the girls are so ill-mannered and don’t speak a word of english. That made it very hard to communicate what meals I wanted to order and any questions I had for the asking. They made me feel very unwelcome this time around. My last visit was several years back and... more

from start to finish the stay was to say the least "disappointing". Te staff were totally unprofessional and the owners did not seem to understand customer service at all. We were overcharged and had to send the bill back 5 times for correction. we were served "pork beef"- a dish I have never heard of nor ever will again. Also,... more

Unfortunately I had pre-booked this Hotel. Some reviews for this hotel are *excellent* and some *terrible*. I really have to say it is terrible. I agree in any way with the review from traveler_1066. Have a look at wikipedia what is necessary for 3 and 4 stars. Compare the list with Aldeia da Fonte and you will see, it is... more

The Service is best described as 'idiosyncratic'. Slow and surly... until one raised a smile, at which point we found a few of the staff to be charming. It was a genuinely tearful goodbye from some. (Others remained surly throughout!) We are not talking about a 'Service Oriented Culture'. It is a long time since we've slept in twin beds,... more

A nice hotel in a nice location. The rooms are in old houses which have been restored. We had a suite, which has plenty of space. The cleaning is allright.. The beds can be better (quite hard). The food in the restaurant is nice, but not very special. The service however is very bad. Usually it took about 30 minutes... more

We stayed 10 days in this delightful hotel. We were in a single room which was clean and cozy and very comfortable. If you are looking for the Ritz, go elsewhere but if you want good service, delicious local food and a friendly atmosphere, we highly recommend it. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful and when we... more

Stayed for 10 days coupled with a dolphin watching trip. A lovely relaxed hotel with delightful local staff. Food is not 'gourmet ' but of good quality and ideal for family meals with fresh fish , salads and a good Chinese alternative ( eaten under the trees outside the small restaurant unless it is raining.) When one of our borrowed... more

No wonder it is classified as a "charm hotel"! Everything from the location to the very architechture of it appeals to transcendental contact with nature. The buildings are actually made of lava rock and with the mountain in the back and the sea right in front , the whole athmosphere is magical. Gardens are exhuberantly elegant. Rooms are charming, with... more

We had pre-paid and pre-booked several nights at Aldeia da fonte and thought it would be a real treat. We were bitterly disappointed and ended up moving out after one night and finding alternative accommodation. We had booked a self-catering family suite - it was dark and depressing - the lights all had energy-saving lightbulbs which I think is laudable,... more
