I cannot recommend Ian and Chizu's place highly enough. It may be tucked away behind Aveiro, albeit on the rural trainline, but this casa is well worth the detour. The rooms are very tasteful and spotlessly clean, replete with Chizu's dramatic paintings; breakfasts are top quality; and the garden is large and relaxing. But it is the warmth of the welcome which sets this place apart. Nothing is too much trouble - be it advice on what to do in the area, food and drink on request or a lift down into town once the train stops for the evening. I would go back at the drop of the hat. more
