I have never had such a positive experience as I had during my recent stay at this hotel. Susan (the proprietress) and her staff are absolutely wonderful--friendly, helpful without being intrusive, and eager to assist. The rooms were clean and well equipped, the breakfast very adequate, and the prices certainly reasonable. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the... more

Everyone we encountered in Portugal was very friendly and that's not an exaggeration. Susan was extremely helpful in every aspect. I traveled with a group of greater than 15 and she knew each of our names by heart by about the second day. Her recommendations around the area were spot on. No pricey tours, just public transportation and great locations.... more

Great little B&B with a lovely pool area. It is close to the Casino at Estoril (about a 5/10 minute walk), but we much preferred Cascais which was about a 25/30 minute walk. The restaurant at Pica Pau was lovely and not too expensive. The swimming pool was brilliant and because it is not a big place, there were a... more

This is a fantastic little hotel. The staff are so friendly and helpful and the owner Susan is great for advice on places to go and how to get there. The location is nice and quiet, the pool area is great, and the restaurant is good value. Cascais which is close is also great for restaurants, and the trip into... more

This is the first time I've been prompted to review a hotel - and all because I had such a great stay here. Rooms were large and spotless for an impressively low price. Hotel staff went out of their way to make my stay a good one. Pool area blissfully relaxing and well equipped. Had the grilled chicken as recommended... more

My wife and I enjoyed a week at the Pica Pau in June 2009. The hotel was quiet, with only around ten rooms occupied most of the week. Our room was on the second floor, with a standard layout of two single beds, bath with shower over, plentiful wardrobe space, and cable TV. No air conditioning, but an electric fan... more

Sue and her team tare most helpful.Nothing is too much trouble. From arranging to have Senor Rodriges waiting at the airport to Pedro spending time to explain each item on the menu. The hotel has been modernised... more

Stayed for 5 nights in Sep 2008. As previous reviews stated we found the hotel and the staff excellent. The rooms were a good size, clean and had air conditioning. The food for breakfast and in the hotel restaurant was very good (try the chicken piri piri). The pool was a very good size with plenty of sun lounges. Nothing... more

We have just returned from 9 nights at the Pica Pau and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Prior to arrival, Susan, the co-owner, had arranged for a taxi to pick us up at the airport in Lisbon. We were in a lovely light room, 110, with a balcony . The breakfast was very good and we found the staff to be... more
