The building and the location are really excellent: few steps from the Elevator de Santa Justa. The hall, the bar and the breakfast room are a dream: it's appear to be in a movie on 1920... The Hotel is in a good location and had a certain charm. The breakfast buffet was quite good as was the diinner at the hotel. The room we were given however had a terrible odor. They tried to disguise it with airfresheners. After taking a shower, the smell got increasingly worse. Housekeeping said it was a sewer backage...and indeed it... more

The Avenida Palace is a very beautiful and charming hotel...lots of chandeliers, elegant curtains and eye catching floral displays throughout. The entrance lobby, salon and bar are particularly nice. it reminded me of the Metropole hotel in Brussels though it is much smaller than that hotel. The twin room we booked was pleasantly furnished and the bathroom was very cheerful... more
