The first thing to note is that the Dom Manuel is located well away from the tourist areas. If you want to be in the heart of historic Lisbon, this is not the right choice. However, it is in a nice-ish residential area, just across from the wonderful Gulbenkian Museum, and close to a Metro stop (which will get you... more

Hotel Dom Manuel I is a nice quiet hotel in a residential part of Lisbon. It's not far from a huge department store the Corte Inglese, a lovely if not hilly park, and a few nice smaller museums. My daughter and I stayed at the Dom Manuel for three nights. The staff were courteous but aloof, perhaps due to the language difference though they spoke English well enough.
