We booked this hotel as a central location, halfway between the Old Town and the museums and parks of the newer part. We thought the hotel was surprisingly good for an economy price. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the lift worked well, there was a lovely bar which served snacks and drinks with plenty of tables. The staff are very helpful and attentive. Breakfast is as many rolls and as much coffee as you like - basic but quite enough to start the day. Being centrally located there are fabulous walks around Funchal in every direction and if you prefer to ride there is a taxi-rank outside the front door. We had lovely views from our window, overlooking a park and with the chair-lift going overhead. This is not a fancy hotel, such as The Riu Palace Madeira where we have enjoyed many stays, but we didn't expect it to be. We got just what it said on the can and we enjoyed it.
