Medium size Family owned hotel, and it shows ! Surrounded by anonomous, concrete monsters, this old Country House was an oasis of calm, with lovely gardens. Many rooms were bungalows under the Jacaranda trees. The staff were so well trained, friendly, full off real conversation ! more

The Penha de Franca is really two hotels in one. If you choose the Franca “Mar” then it is the seaside hotel block down from the original Quinta. A low rise hotel in its own tropical gardens close to the City Centre. The main advantage it has is that is is not in the Hotel zone which has been over developed. . Rooms are spacious and the service excellent. Swimming pool overlooks the sea. Food good but better in local Michelin recommended retaurants. more
