My husband is disabled and the staff really put themselves out to help us, particularly the receptionists and the temporary bus driver. The steps to the front of the hotel are quite steep without any rails and not easy for anyone with walking problems but the receptionists came out to help us. The gardens are beautiful but the paths are... more

We stayed at this hotel for one week. Service is the best we have received in any hotel we have stayed. They made our stay great. No noise at all, so calm at the swimming pool, what a view of the city... more

Ideal out of town location away from the madding crowd of Funchal. It has wonderful views of the sea and mountains and especially of Funchal at night. Impeccable service and attention to detail. Management open to constructive suggestions. A la carte, table d'hote and bar menues were excellent but a bit expensive more

This was a terrifically lucky find, splendid small period hotel with rooms with great views of the harbour and cruise ships, an excellent location a short walk from the town and in the Old part of town, much better than the mega hotel quarter on the other side of the harbour. Great staff, lovely gardens, classy foyer and public areas... more

We loved this hotel. The location being a mile or so out of the centre of Funchal suited us as it was so peaceful with very little traffic noise. We didn't hire a car but used the hotel's courtesy bus service into and out of Funchal (though this didn't run on Saturday afternoon or Sundays) and also made the most... more

We stayed at this wonderful hotel for 4 nights in September 2009 and it is probably the best hotel experience we have ever had. From the initial e-mail communications before we arrived to looking after us during our stay the staff were superb. Our young daughter was an instant hit with the staff and enjoyed being fussed over. The Hotel... more

This hotel is delightful with its warm and friendly staff and old colonial atmosphere we really enjoyed our stay. Situated on the outskirts of Funchal you need to be fit to walk into town but the hotel provide a courtesy bus which runs during the day and early evening. The food was excellent and the service terrific. Good views, nice... more

We stayed at the Quinta da Bela Vista for a week for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. The rooms were excellent, the food was excellent and especially the staff were quite superb. The hotel is loacted out of the centre of Funchal but provides free transport into the centre which is a 10 minute drive many times each day. The hotel... more

We have returned from a delightful holiday in this splendid hotel. The staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant. Whilst the hotel is around a mile or so from the centre of Funchal, this was not a problem. The hotel setting in lush gardens is superb. This was our first visit but we do not intend for it... more
