Flew Out To Madeira to See a friend. I was the only person to get off the coach to stay in this hotel. well guest house. Welcoming was Ok. waited for about 10minutes to check in. I read the reviews about this hotel and went with an open mind, the room we had was very small really like a cell it was very clean and the shower worked fine, but there wasn't a balcony or terrace it was very dark in the room just enough room to walk around the bed couldn't open the wardrobe door... more

Rooms were basic but spotlessly clean. Food was excellent with a good selection. The staff were professional & very friendly. An easy (but steep!) walk into Funchal and a cheap bus ride back. Make use of the Giro bus pass obtainable either on the bus or near the Marina. Will definitely go back more

Had I read the reviews of Vila Camacho before I booked, I woudn't have chosen to stay there - what a treat I would have missed. This is a delightful place in a peaceful, calm location with a really lovely terrace to enjoy a book; a drink, a meal. Indeed, the terrace and the food were the highlights for me... more

Breakfast was monotonous to say the least.A better choice was available at extra cost.Don't be tempted to upgrade to Half Board on arrival as guests have to pay in advance of meals and if not happy with the food provided one is stuck with it usually for 7 days at a discounted price which is little comfort to those who... more

Oh dear, what a disaster. Having been upgraded by our travel agent as our visit was for our honeymoon we were oh so disapointed and dismayed when we arrived and the hotel manager started his 'upgrade scam' talk, which is seems he is now quite well known for. There was no WELCOME.. No Congratulations...No flowers or Champagne in our room... more

We stayed at the Vila camacho from 12-01-09 to 19-01-09. The Vila Camacho was clean and very friendly a little way out of Funchal about a 15 minute walk down to Funchal but a good 25 minutes coming back up.
