Like others said here it's a Grand hotel but with small issues to solve. The rooms were large with very good conditions but lacked better TV set (old ones) and the mini-bar/water they provided had huge prices compared with others. We really liked this hotel. It is quite a walk into Funchal, but there is a free minibus transfer, although this stops in the early evening. It was fairly quiet whilst we were there, so not much choice in the hotel restaurants, there are a variety of restaurants, but they only had 1 open each evening. The Morroccan was good.... more

We stayed at the pestana grand over Christmas and it was very good. The Gala dinner was excellent as was the carol concert and the violinist prior to that.
