I must agree with most previous reviews - Vila Vicencia is a pleasant change from concrete multi-storey hotels with a charming garden and pool. Staff were friendly and helpful and breakfasts were adequate if not oustanding. Our room had a kettle but no coffee or tea provided, so take your own if you wish. Location convenient for buses to Funchal... more

On this occasion I was on my own, but my wife and I have been visiting VV for some 15 years now; in recent years two or three times a year. The point about this hotel is that it really suits people (like my wife and I) who prefer small and very friendly hotels rather than large ones where you... more

Stayed 13-21 July 2009 I have waited a month to review this small hotel, partly to see what other reviewers said, as I was very shocked to realise that there was a group of guests moaning vehemently about the hotel the night before they left in the middle of our stay. Before travelling but after booking I had contacted the... more

We stayed at this lovely hotel in the last week of July and enjoyed our visit to Madeira very much. The Villa Vicencia is a lovely hotel with very friendly staff. The room we had was lovely with a small but pretty balcony overlooking the pool. The breakfast offered a wide variety of foods and was very leisurely and laid... more

I stayed at the Vila Vicencia, travelling on my own i found Madeira and the Vila Vicencia excellent. I travelled with Thomsons who made every step of my holiday a breeze from booking the holiday to arriving! The hotel is small and friendly as described and was very welcoming. Ok breakfast was sometime a little crowded but i come from... more

Just returned from a week at this villa. This is a small quaint villa but is in need of some updating. We were allocated room 15 where we had a terrible smell of drains in the bathroom and the extractor fan did not work. We had been warned by friends who had stayed in March to take earplugs. It is... more

When we were dropped off by the minibus from the airport must we admit thought oh no, as we were right outside a rather gastly looking blue hotel, however to our delight we were taken across the road to a secure gate,,,On the gate opening we were met by a little oasis and a warm welcome. Very tasteful homely decor... more

What a wonderful hotel, an oasis of calm amongst a concrete jungle of modern hotels. It is set in a beautiful tropical garden and is very peaceful. Good hot and cold breakfast with a very friendly staff. Tea (English), coffee etc. available throughout the day at very reasonable cost. Many good restaurants close by, five minutes to Lido, twenty minutes... more

Lovely B&B with a family feel. The setting is quite a busy area at times, but you'd never guess it as the gardens create a relaxing atmosphere that envelops you when you step through the front gate. Couldn't fault the rooms or service, but remember to take a mini-kettle with you as tea making facilities are not included! more
