This hotel is actually in the village of Caldas de Aregos which is south of Resende on the south bank of the Douro. The hotel is well maintained and our "mini-suite" was well appointed. One of the most comfortable beds we have had in a hotel. The hotel is opposite a fairly new marina where there is a tourist information office. The tourist office was useful - free internet access and a public phone which offers cheap metered calls.

The hotel is classed as 4 star and whilst that may be the case facility wise the restaurant is very much 1 star. Very limited choices on the menu - the food was good quality but badly cooked! The breakfast was just about OK and it was included in our price but don't pay extra for it.

We stayed three days but ate in the hotel just once. Without taking the windy road to Resende you are limited to the hotel or a very good local restaurant called Restaurant Caldas de Aregos. Good prices, excellent food, massive portions so make sure... more
