Location is excellent, just below the Acropolis and on a street leading off from the new walkway. Room was spotlessly clean -small but had TV, fridge/mini bar, room safe, phone (see below however). Bathroom was TINY - good pressure on shower but you took a life threatening chance every time trying to stand up in a split level half bath!... more

We ended up staying at the Philippos on the last night of our honeymoon last May. It was awful. Our room smelled musty and the sheets on the bed felt damp. The decor in the room was drab and depressing with dim flourescent lighting. And we had twin beds even though they knew in advance that we were on honeymoon.... more

The hotel room seemed small, like one for a single person. When we asked, the desk clerk insisted all rooms were the same size. Later, when we saw a vacant much larger room. We arrived in Athens on election night when everyone was driving round at crazy speeds hooting their horns and shouting. The Philippos, however, was mercifully quiet and we could barely hear a sound from our large balcony with a view of the floodlit Parthenon.
