When we arrived, our room was not available, which it should have been. The first man i spoke to was annoying and was not willing to find a queen size bed for me and said, only 2 twins, so i later spoke to a lady and she got us into a queen room, o the 1sy floor, with not much... more

I was offered this hotel when my first choices were not available. The only thing going for this hotel is the central location. Other than that is is appalling. The parthenon view might be fantastic from the restaurant, but not even the parthenon can disguise the appalling breakfast. Coffee consisted of a tin of instant coffee, with one spoon in... more

My husband and I stayed at the Astor for 5 nights in April, were away in Nafplion for a night then back at the Astor for a night before flying to Crete. We were very happy with everything at the hotel - very efficient checkin service, friendly and helpful staff, room was very comfortable and breakfast was good - with... more

After reading some of the negative reviews about the Astor, we were concerned about our five days reservation there. We were with a large group with the reservation preplanned. However, my husband and I, as well as the rest of the group, were extremely pleased with the Astor. Although it is definitely not luxiurious and the decorating is questionable, we... more

arrived Athens with no reservations at a hotel. Walked into Astor Hotel and the front desk people were so helpful. Perfect English spoken by all the front desk agents. I got a beautiful room looking out onto Athens and the Acropolis sitting up on the hill. what a sight during the day, but at night WOW.. just a short walk... more

We stayed at the Astor with a large group in April 2008. I was worried because the hotel had garnered many negative reviews on this site, primarily due to renovations. But we had a very enjoyable stay. We saw no renovations taking place. The reception area was clean and comfortable, with a nice little coffee shop inside. The staff was... more

We stayed at the Astor in November. My first impressions were formed by other reviews on Trip Advisor who forewarned of renovations - however they didn't quite capture the whole awful picture so we decided to give this hotel a chance. The lobby is non-existent - all there is when you walk in is a dated front desk and stacks... more

We stayed at the Astor for 2 nights, one before and one after a week of sailing. It appears that the renovations mentioned by others are complete. There was no construction going on. The lifts worked without problems. The lobby furniture is still worn, but I don't think I would have noticed it if I hadn't read previous reviews. Our... more

I've been lucky enough to stay twice at this comfortable hotel twice in two years. The lobby makes me laugh, its harshly coloured marble accented with brass is a bold statement in a city covered in gritty limestone. Tourists boil in the temperature, but the staff is fully outfitted in long sleeves and wool pants. Always looking and acting professional.... more
