Just like previous reviews, we found the area right out front of the hotel very dodgy, but Omonia Square much less so. That said... the main reason this place is risky is not because of the neighborhood, but because of the building itself. My friend looked out the window from our 8th story room and pointed to a huge crack... more

We ended up here thanks to our travel agent who says he allegedly stayed here, but I have a hard time believing that when there are are equally budget friendly choices to choose from. Anyway, this is a hostel! Actually, we have stayed at cheaper, nicer hostels than this. We went trekking to find a laundry and ended up having... more

I wouldn't suggest this hotel to my worst enemy, as I am not that cruel. A friend of mine booked there as we were looking for a cheap and central place to stay for a couple of night, back in Septermebr 2007. I don't know wheter situation has changed since then, but I doubt. Well, it's cheap and it's close... more

I traveled with two friends, both of whom have stayed in various hostels around Europe, and they agreed the hotel Alma was a step up from a hostel, but just barely. The room was tiny, and awkward, and poorly lit, but it was clean enough. The bathroom window didn't lock. The beds were not comfortable. The front desk staff was... more

This hotel was in a shady area, but the hotel itself was worth the money. For three nights it was only $125 USD, and it was very close to the metro station, so it was very convenient. But the first thing I wanted to do was get out of the area during the day. As a lone female traveler, I... more

Rooms very small but very clean , linen changed everyday. shower small but managable. We laughed about it but have been in worse. Location very central lots of cafes shops and attractions nearby. Something out of the 60's comes to... more

Stayed at Alma Hotel with my sister for a week in October 2008. The price was good for us budget travellers. I have to say though, that some of the reviews here are a bit over the top. Okay, the hotel is not the best one I've stayed at, but then again, that's not what we expected with the rate... more

I just came back from Athens and stayed at Alma, and I have to say, it's not as bad as it was reviewed!!! I only read the reviews here AFTER I booked the room and paid the deposit. Okay, it's not wise, but EURO 60 for a double room in August isn't bad!!! Then the reviews here freaked me out.... more

the alma hotel has a variety of issues mostly related to where it is but was clean and comfortable with A/C and TV and the staff were more "reserved" than other hotel owners...but so what? at 25 euros a night, I definitely couldnt complain...and after having spent 2 weeks all over turkey...this place is definitely not the worst on the... more

this hotel isn't as bad as reviewed. but maybe because i stayed here for five days in early january and it was mostly empty. the plus side: very cheap, room was cleaned everyday, great location next to subway station, 15 minute walk to the national archaeological museum, grocery store and restaurants around the area, laundromat close by, free breakfast but... more
