Some of the previous contributors need to seriously chill. My stepson and I stayed at The Filoxenia for 4 nights at the end of July 2007. We each took a double room for single use. The Filoxenia is what it is - a basic budget standard hotel in the centre of Athens. OK the décor, carpets, bathroom tiling etc needs... more

Well...what can I say?! We stayed here for a week... Filoxenia Hotel was situated near the red light district of Omonia Square! Arriving early hours of the morning, we were surprised to see a hostel style hotel with very old decor. The room very basic and having 2 beds pushed together classed as a 'double' bed, the bath had limescale... more

This place has a few negative aspects. The shower was a hose in a chipped and worn bath, the breakfast was terrible with disgusting juice and stale cereal with warm milk, and the decor was very basic. However I found the reception staff friendly and accommodating, one such person extremely, out-of-the-way helpful, and the room had air-conditioning, a TV and... more

DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL. It is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The room was disgusting, there were balls of hair stuck in the courtains and the bathroom was terrible as well. The toilet bowl has completely dirty and the neighborhood couldn't be worse. The hotel staff seems to be doing you a favor... more

This is a cheap hotel with cheap facilities, which may be just acceptable if nothing goes wrong. In my case it did. A shirt disappeared with the sheets. Nothing too serious but daily polite enquiries were initially met indifference and mild irritation. On my last day this turned into a pantomime of shouting, abuse and accusations of lying. There are... more

This place is very austere and not in very good shape. The lobby is fine, but the rooms are in poor condition and hardly furnished. Also, the receptionist at the desk got in a lengthy and loud argument with another guest while we were waiting for our room in the lobby. This guy had a severe attitude problem. He was... more

During my thirteen day stay, I found the hotel staff were very knowledgable and helpful to a first time visitor to Athens. The breakfast served as part of the package was OK that is to say nothing special. Thus, you may consider eating elsewhere. The rooms were clean, the linens which were crisp and clean were changed daily, the bathroom... more

I stayed here for 2 nights and this is absolutely the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The first thing about this hotel is you walk in and it's very dark and has a nasty smell. It's in a ghetto area of Athens and my first impression was that it was a "sex motel". The elevator worked some times but... more

This is mostly meant for backpackers, who want a private bathroom. I am ready to wager that even some backpacking hostels have better quality. The rooms are dimly lighted, most beds creake, the bathrooms are terrible, the flush barely functioned and the furnishings were meagre and of poor quality. The beds were not queen sized - there were two single... more
