Big disappointment. The nice pictures of this hotel that are shown on the internet are deceiving since this place is completely different once you get there. This place urgently needs to be renovated. This might be a 3 star hotel for Greek standards but never for North American standards (where it could be a 2 star hotel at the most).... more

The hotel was nice and clean and the rooms were fine but the location was horrible! The streets are dirty and scary. Grafitti and drugged up people everywhere, did not feel safe. The hotel staff weren't overly friendly. more

This is an average hotel like Travel Inn, there is sooo much to see in Athens so if you are looking for hotel just bed and breakfast - this is ideal. HOWEVER........ the area (2/3 blocks away) which is quite close is crap. There are prostitutes on the sides so going at 8pm - i was scared. more

During our tour of Greece, we spent four days in Athens and three nights at the Ionis Hotel, located just two streets away from one of the most important squares in the city: the Omonia square... which is also one of the creepiest place I have seen so far. But let's take it step by step: The good side: the... more

Will not stay at this hotel again. The rooms were quite shabby and poorly-lit, and the airconditioning didn't work that well (in the midst of summer). People at the front desk were helpful, but weren't very friendly. This hotel is in a shady street, especially at night, though it is not far from the more popular tourist areas. The breakfast... more

Very central location and easy access to all the sights and shopping areas. The staff at the reception were very friendly. The rooms were comfortable and the breakfast was great. I would defiantly recommend for a short stay more

Yesterday morning (Monday 24/Nov/2008) while I was making coffiee in a hotel restaurant my girlfriend asked one of the staff (older guy, pink shirt) how to make it -because there were two boxes with brown powders around - we had no experience with local coffee. When the guy saw me pouring water into a coffee cup he went crazy and... more

At the same price elsewhere I have experienced much decent place to stay. With the exception of the location "in Omonia" the hotel is not at all for a decent vacation. Dirty stinking lead road, average rooms and a very indifferent reception. The reception even on demand did not bother to provide with minor details like everything is closed on... more

The Ionis hotel isn't too far from Plaka, but the neighborhood surrounding the hotel was very questionable. Being from new york city, and living near Harlem, I thought I’d be fine with shady areas, but even I was concerned walking to the main tourist area even during the day, let alone after dark. One store down the block had been... more

I liked this hotel pretty well. It is near the Omonia metro station but a bit difficult to find without good directions. If you are coming from the airport you should definitely take the metro to Omonia as it costs about 6 Euros and doesn't take much longer than going by taxi. Unfortunately I arrived at night so I did... more
