I learned that in Athens,more than other places I've been to,location is everything. This hotel provides walking access to the Acropolis/Agora sites, Syntagma square and most of the nice shopping areas. One good piece of advice: Buy your food as takeout and go to the roof for dinner -- you'll be treated with the lighted Acropolis as your background. more

Be prepared for the graffiti! But that's pretty much everywhere in Athens... We stayed here for 4 nights in September '09 and were very happy with our choice. We chose the Central Hotel primarily for its location, and were not disappointed on that front. It is unlikely that you will find a better value in Plaka -- with online booking and a weekend special, we paid 89 euro per night.
