I stayed here when I was stationed here back in 1996 (Navy) and again in 2002 when we pulled in with the ship.
The owners are wonderful and very accepting! If you are willing to learn their culture and language they will embrace you more! Great food and wonderful company.
The pool is huge, clean and in a great location. The hotel is on a hill so the view is awesome. You will have to take a cab to get downtown but it is not too expensive and the hotel staff will call one for you.
The rooms are clean and comfortable. Understand that there are not the usual American aminities we are used to in our hotels. They are European! But if you staying in your room (other than to sleep) you are in Crete for the wrong reason!
And do not play darts against the owner, John. (Yani in Greek) He is very, very good!

We had to drive quite a distance towards town to find a place to eat. If you do not have a car, don't bother with this place. With a car, it is fine.

The hotel's website has lousy directions and no real map. Just drive out of Chania towards the airport. At the top of the steep hill it will be on your right behind a bunch of trees and bushes. If you see signs for the local military Officer's Club, you missed it.

The rooms were...
