My family and our friends stayed at Villa Helidona, Episkopi, Crete in early July 2001 and absolutely loved it! The villa was beautiful, every modern convenience including dishwasher and washing machine, but housed in a wonderful old restored building that the owner Dimitris has filled with antiques, comfy sofas and lots of "knicknaks" to make you feel at home. The pool was great, big, clean and obviously Dimitris' pride and joy. Every evening the children loved to watch the swallows swoop down to the pool to have a drink! Beyond the garden and pool was a vegetable garden, all organically grown where we could help ourselves to fresh tomatoes, apricots, onions, pears, apples, oranges, etc. The courtyard at the front of the house was a big suntrap, flowers everywhere and a great fountain for a water feature!!
