The main hotel and two blocks of 'bungalows' are set in lovely, spacious and lush gardens. We were were in one of the bungalow rooms - nice, wooden panelled with a little private terrace. The place is very peaceful (except maybe if you're in the main building during a wedding reception at the tavern), with lovely views of the Idean mountains - right next to the hotel. Like much Cretan accommodation it's extremely good value for clean and decent rooms and facilities - including a bar, swimming pool and the connected Votomos Taverna (though the taverna on the lovely Votomos lake itself - 10 minutes walk up the road - is better). Nearby Zaros village is pleasant, with a number of shops etc. Matala beach and Festos not too far away.
