The only hostel I could find for Thessaloniki was Backpacker's Refuge. At first I was surprise of how small it was, but the owner Anna, have made it as warm and homely as possible. She is also good for information around the city and helped me arrange transport to Athens. You can contact Anna [--]. more
Although it is more like a house and less than a hostel, it provides a good stay. It is very clean and feels like a home for the backpacker. At 15 euro per night, it's by far the best value in town. The only downside is that you must arrange to collect your key on arrival because there is no reception. The area is much better than the dodgy train station and the staff is very helpful more
