The Excelsior Hotel is a 5 star boutique hotel in Thessaloniki. It is housed in a striking neoclassical building next to Aristotelous Square, which was built in 1924 and was completely renovated in 2009. The Tornivoukas family decided to completely renovate the historic building in 2009, preserving its traditional façade and turning it into a modern boutique hotel. The stunning architectural details of the façade, the art deco balconies, the neoclassical high windows with magnificent views and carefully chosen color combinations make The Excelsior one of the most luxurious hotels in Greece. The interior design, layout and decoration captivate the eye with their elegant aesthetics, while the classic marble staircase, the refurbished elevator and the beautiful furniture resemble Parisian buildings of the 1900’s, combining el\egance and luxury. Excelsior has 36 luxurious rooms and suites and every aspect has been tailored to suit guests’ needs. The rooms are spacious, functional and beautifully decorated with light tones and ambient lighting, while the suites are oases of comfort and refined taste, while offering panoramic views. All rooms and suites are fully equipped and provide exclusive services to guests such as king size beds, marble bathrooms, branded furniture and toiletries, espresso coffee machines and genuine artwork. In the Excelsior's mezzanine guests can find Charlie D., where they can enjoy delicious food in a relaxed atmosphere with beautiful jazz music and tasty cocktails. The building’s character, combined with the luxury and high quality services offered by The Excelsior, make it one of the most recognizable landmarks in the city's hotel landscape over the past decade.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The location of the hotel is excellent, within easy walking distance of the major sites. The staff (especially at the reception desk) were all very friendly and efficient. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the room service was perfect.

Hotel's Favourite
Just enjoyed a 5 night stay at this beautiful hotel. We traveled with British airways holidays and it’s about a 30 minute taxi ride from the airport. €27. We were in room 38 on the third floor. Comfortable king size bed. TV, nespresso coffee machine. Mini bar. Wardrobe. Small balcony. The bathroom didn’t have a bath but a nice shower. Lots of white marble. Everything was clean and the housekeepers do a great job. Even though the hotel is right in the heart of the city, it was quiet . The breakfast is served on the mezzanine floor. A very nice buffet as well as a menu with a good choice of cooked items. I particularly enjoyed the omelettes. Coffee’s are made to order and there’s fruit juices and milks. Also champagne. Thanos was our waiter and he was very polite and attentive. All the staff we came across were pleasant and everyone spoke English. The hotel is family owned and has a luxury feel. It’s a beautiful old building but refurbished to a high standard. It is well situated just minutes from the ladadaki area which is a great area for restaurants and bars. The main shopping and market areas are close by too as us the port and waterfront promenade. I would be very happy to stay here again.

I made a mistake with my first booking, and they didn't want to change the invoice so I am very disappointed with the staff because I don't understand why an invoice can't be changed. Informatics is for the service of people, and not vice versa.

This boutique hotel exudes old world charm. The stucco ceilings are gorgeous. There is a single glass elevator that can accommodate about 2 -3 people at a time, and an extensive winding staircase. I appreciated the countertop space in the bathroom, the slippers in the room, the room safe, and the sliding panels to block out sun and noise. The welcome message from the proprietors and the complimentary bottle of water and wine was a nice touch. The rooms have showers separate from the bathroom, so perhaps not suited for families. The breakfast was lovely with made-to -order omelettes and pancakes. The breakfast also included self-service fruit, yogurt, meats, and various bakery items. The location is one block to the sea and one block to Aristotelous Square. It is a short walk to the Jewish Museum. The taxi from the airport was 25€. I enjoyed the calmness of this hotel.

A boutique hotel in very convenient location downtown. The stuff was very friendly and helpful for everything. Our superior room in the 3rd floor was elegant and spaceful without nose. It was also very clean. The breakfast very tastefully. I will definitely stay there again in my next visit in Thessaloniki

It was a flawless experience over 3 nights, from a good humoured welcome to the 24 euro airport taxi, that turned up in less than 5 minutes. I loved the room: well designed with comfortable chairs and a luxuriously soft bed. Breakfast is a very calm affair. Lots of choice, including hot dishes and coffees made to order. The location suited me perfectly: one block from the sea and surrounded by good bars and restaurants. It was so convenient that I felt like I gravitated back to it at the end of every day. (The downside of the lively location is that it’s a noisy spot - drinkers on a Saturday night and traffic from early each morning - but the hotel shuts out enough if the noise to let you sleep.)

An amazing hotel! Beautifully clean, delicious food and fantastic staff. We were in room 14 which is on the 1st floor of rooms. The room was lovely, when we arrived we had a complimentary bottle of wine, a plate of truffles and a hand written note from the manager. Each night, the maid did a turn down service where we were given chocolates and some bed time reading, which was a really nice touch. The breakfast was exceptional. There was a buffet with fruit, jam, salads, pastries and so on along with a menu to order a cooked breakfast. We tried a variety of the cooked breakfasts on the menu and they were all delicious. The coffee was fantastic and there was proper freshly squeezed orange juice which was delicious. There was also champagne included which was really nice. A special shout out to the waitress Kyriaki who was very pleasant and spoke to us every morning asking how our trip was and telling us about the area. We would not hesitate to book this hotel again, it is definitely one of the best we have ever stayed in.
