Three years ago I stayed two weeks. The hotel was a good 5 star value. I just returned from another two weeks and it was one of the two best hotel stays of my life. Everything was 5 star--but the breakfasts, service and rooftop restaurant are 10s on a 5 point scale. What really impressed me was the friendliness and... more

Our stay at the Makedonia Palace was wonderful! My first thought as we drove up to the hotel upon check-in was "why did I choose this"...as I've learned many times before, I shouldn't judge by the outside! The hotel was beautiful, very clean, classy & surprised me in many ways. Upon check-in, try to meet Popi. She works at the... more

Makedonia Palace is an excellent hotel in Thesalloniki. It is situated in a nice area near the town center. We stayed for three nights in this hotel on 31/7-2/08/09. It is a luxury hotel with spacious comfortable rooms, good restaurant and a swimming pool. The staff is very polite and the hotel is very clean. The breakfast is also very... more

The hotel is located on the sea and very close to the shopping area. The rooms are clean and neat, but the customer service was extremely poor. This hotel is absolutely not 5 stars. It is more likely 3.5-4 stars. I do not know who ranked it as 5 stars. The appliances in the hotel were old. I checked in... more

The location is superb. In walking distance of the statue of Alexander the Great, statue of Aristotle, the White Tower (which now houses a museum covering the history of the city), and many ancient Byzantine and Roman ruins. The hotel's restaurants are pricey but the food and service are top-notch. The "American style" (buffet) breakfast (included in your room price)... more

Stayed in Macedonia Palace on May 22nd and the 23rd 2009. At 0640 am i woke up by the thick grey smoke that filled up my room! immediately I heard noises from pedestrians shooting to us to come downstairs because the building was on fire!!!! I had to fall to my knees in order to find the door to the... more

My only reason for staying there on this occasion is that disabled colleagues requested the hotel as few in Thessaloniki have disabled access rooms. Although the hotel has a good location and is spacious it does not offer good value for money, I would not stay there again. I would not rank it as a 5 star hotel. As others... more

I had a horrible experience at the Makedonia Palace. I am a tour director, and had my small knapsack stolen from two people on a motor scooter right in front of the hotel. After spending several hours at the police station, upon my return, I asked the hotel to close out all of my keys, as one of my room... more

As for a Greek hotel, the staff at the hotel was very helpful and patient. You expect better room for the price, and the air conditioner was very weak and it struggled with the high summer temperature more
