Maria and Marcos provide a warm welcome in the little mountain town of Vourliotes. Located near the school on the north west edge of the village (and well signed from the central square, the Platea), they have a small number of charming self-catering studios, each with balcony and beautiful view. Ours was very clean, with comfortable bed and (for an extra €5 air conditioning - worth it as this was the only night on our trip we had to close the window because of mosquitoes). They have a beautiful garden, vine-sheltered terrace and a parrot.
The breakfast (an extra €3 a head) featured wonderful home-made apricot jam. They have a relationship with a restaurant in the square who will welcome you like old friends and offer you a great price if you're staying. A family we met at the hotel had been going their eight years and it was easy to see why.
