We stayed for 5 days at the Roxani Country House at the end of august. From here we wanted to visit Thracia, this beautiful but less known region in the north of Greece mainland.

This region has received many subsidies from the Greek government and also from the European Union (cohesion fund) and therefore has good highway and tourist infrastructure. There are many exceptional visits to do that thanks to the highway can all be reached in less than an hours drive from the Roxani Country House. This area is not yet invaded by mass tourism. Amongst the things to visit are the Nestos delta, the Nestos strait, the Nymfea forest, the Evros Delta, Dadia forest and of course the many archeological sites (Amfipoli, Philippi, Maronia,…). Here you can experience what 25 centuries of civilization means.

The hotel itself is beautifully situated, close to the enchanting village of Maronia. You need a car to get there, it’s half an hours drive from the capital of Rodopi... more
