If ever you need to find somewhere that goes that extra mile for someone then this is surely the place. When my son decided to discover travel i must admit I had some awful thoughts about how he'd fare. If you can imagine someone deaf, no speech, unable to read or write and with limited signing ability....who has just decided they are going to Europe on their own..then you can imagine all the horrors of missed trains, ferries, starving to death, mugging etc . etc.
The Hotel Ansgar became his base once he got there (I still don't know how he managed to get there!). After 2 days he went off north by train, another ferry and then returned to the Hotel Ansgar after 6 days. I had explained his situation before he went and they emailed me to tell me he'd returned safely. When he went into reception to try and ask about where he could wash his clothes, someone even took them and returned them ironed.
Needless to say he's stayed there several times now and it's somewhere you...
