Stayed here for a night over a long weekend. The hotel is about 3 mins walk from the central station....good location to be in....only 40 metres to the red light district where "dodgy" people offer services. this made my girlfriend and i very uncomfortable. their is a strip joint across the road as well. the hotel is nice inside. its... more

Charming and cosy hotel almost in the center of Copenhagen. Not the place you stay if you fancy a Tuborg in the minibar, but more if you're in to organic-fair-feel-good-tomorrow-but-not-so-tasty-beer. Not a great breakfast, but again very organic and very-very fair trade. Our room was of normal size, with cool furniture (from Bali) and of course - everything in the... more

Knowing the Guldsmeden hotel chain, this Axel Hotel is certainly the worst one. The hotel is very charming, well decorated but lacks the most important point in a hotel: SERVICE. The staff is really unpolite, I had bad experience with everyone at the front desk, the breakfast ladies, the maintenance guy in the room and etc... The standard room is... more

Having seen recent reviews I thought I'd add my own comments, albeit we visited over 12 months ago. The hotel has a really nice buzz and exudes a youthful energy. Rooms were fairly small but tastefully decorated. The bathrooms do however leave a bit to be desired and have not been designed with too many practical issues in mind! (Like... more

After reading some reviews on this hotel, I decided to stay there with my wife, for what became a very nice week in Copenhagen. We were first given a wonderful but small room, with a street view, bathroom heated floor, comfortable beds and flat screen tv. We had to leave for a couple of days in Billund and when we... more

Location: Three blocks from Tivoli, four from City Hall Square and Strogat. Twenty minute walk to Nyhavan. Area has good selection of restaurants. Lele highly reccommended restaurant. Hotel: Small cozy lobby with some seating and small bar. Outdoor patio with nice seating area. Excellent breakfast. Our room was small but manageable, comfortable bed. Bathroom small and tub was an adventure...floor... more

I've read many reviews before i picked this hotel but was disapponted. Location : - near to the railway station, but prepare 15-20min walk to the metro station ( i was mislead by a map that it is clsoe to metro in a map - the label "S" is NOT metro!! ) - in red-light district, a topless club" Hollywxxd"... more

Dear Sir/Madam, We were very surprised and sorry to read your review of your stay at our hotel. You seem to have a large number of grievances, many of which are not directly related to the hotel itself. Our location is central in the colourful Vesterbro-area, which we are very fond of, as it incorporates a mix of urban history...

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Axel while attending a conference in Copenhagen. We had the worst experience during our stay in this hotel. We felt insulted and discriminated. Initially, we were greeted by a polite staff at the reception and then given our rooms. All seemed quite well until we entered our room. We were given a standard... more

I love this hotel. I travel a lot for work across Europe and get very bored of chains of hotels that are all the same and completely soulless. The Axel Guldsmeden (Guldsmeden means firefly in danish) is centrally located and very easy to get to from that airport using the metro. The staff are welcoming and very helpful. The atmoshpere... more
