This unique retro designed beauty at HC Andersens Boulevard offers a friendly and homely atmosphere unlike most hotels (including it's more grandios but rather coldhearted tall sister around the corner), and has become the one and only preferred home away from home when in Copenhagen. Very friendly staff at the reception, in good cph-style always ready to make a memorable occasion out of almost anything (like offering a complimentary glass of wine when checking in for the night). Rooms and bathrooms might not be fully updated according to 2020-standards, but that makes another contribution to the everywhere feelgood atmosphere, much unlike any boring hotel we used to visit. This place is no doubt on the top ten list of the best hotel experiences and whenever longing back to Wonderful Copenhagen there's always a small part of Alexandra in that too. Looking forward to next time!

It was a pleasant stay in hotel Alexandra where the price was in compliance with our budget(midrange).
The staff was professional as well as friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the healthy breakfast with a lot of fresh food including some Danish specialities. There was a particular attention to food hygiene. Our cosy twin room was despite the cold weather warm with excellent beds.Everything was very clean.Nevertheless we missed space for storing personal luggage. It was pretty quite despite the crowdy avenue. The underground as starting point for visiting interesting places ,was nearby. The hotel had also a restaurant with traditional dishes. It was an advantage when the time was limited.

We heard of the Alexandra thorough an episode of Travel Man when Noel Fielding accompanied Richard Ayoade for 48 hours in Copenhagen. Like them, we were impressed by the design theme of the hotel and the friendly welcome, including a free glass of reasonable wine on arrival. Our room faced the busy Hans Christian Andersen Boulevard but the double glazed windows kept out the noise almost completely. The room which was a deluxe double had ample space full of Danish designed seating, as well as a very large and comfortable bed and a good sized bathroom, and a small 'entrance hall' with a wardrobe. We could see the Government building and the Tivoli is just a couple of minutes walk away, so it's ideally situated for tourism. There's an excellent cafe a few minutes away - The Little Yellow House is the translation - where we had a few lunches, and a delightful place for breakfast called Next Door Cafe a similar distance away. Also close by is a craft beer bar called The Tap House, which has a very impressive range of beers, and a little further away towards the meat packing district is the original Mikkeller bar, which has a smaller range but is most definitely worth visiting. Staff were very helpful and welcoming, and allowed us to store our bags downstairs on our last day while we visited the beautiful Royal Palace and the Carlsberg museum, both are not to be missed. This will be our base on all future visits to Copenhagen.

I cannot recommend Hotel Alexandra. Out of the 5 non-refundable hotel reservations I’ve had to cancel because of restrictions on American travelers due to Covid-19, this hotel is the ONLY one that refused to work with me (2 refunds, 1 voucher for a future stay, and 1 charged for the first night only.) I was willing to compromise to help mitigate the damage. While I understand the room was non-refundable, neither party had any way to know this unprecedented situation would occur. Based on my contact with counsel in Europe, Denmark provided the hotel industry with assistance during this time, but does not offer protection for travelers not on packaged travel. Sadly this hotel isn’t required to work with guests, so they aren’t. Like many during this time, I’m also suffering financially. Their slogan is “Like Staying with A Friend.” Friends share burdens, not kick you when you are down.

I checking into Hotel Alexandra for a short, one night visit to Copenhagen. Everything about my time there was a delight, from the hospitality to the atmosphere and vibes. Hotel Alexandra is the city’s only boutique hotel dedicated to classic, mid-century Danish design. It’s like visiting a living design museum full of iconic pieces! So cool! The feeling there is very relaxed and laidback, but the staff and attentive and very welcoming. Although the hotel is filled with many original historic pieces that are in-fact vintage, nothing feels shabby or unpolished. It has all the amenities of a modern hotel with freshly renovated bathrooms and comfortable beds for a great nights rest. Be sure to book the stay with breakfast and enjoy the cozy feeling in the main lobby lounge! Also, this hotel is in a prime location with many opportunities for shopping, dinning, and site seeing just outside the doorsteps

We had a wonderful stay from start to finish. We arrived early from a long haul flight and were thrilled to be allowed straight into our room. Our twin room on the 4th floor overlooked an inner courtyard so was very quiet for sleeping. It was spacious with very comfortable beds and we loved the 60s furniture. Fantastic shower and an excellent European selection for breakfast. We enjoyed the hotel bikes on our 2nd day, a really great way to get around Copenhagen and keep warm on a chilly day.
What really makes this hotel special is the front desk staff who gave us such a warm welcome and were so pleasant and helpful throughout our stay. We will be recommending this hotel and would return in a heartbeat.

This is one of the hotels where I keep coming back again and again (maybe because they have this agreement with our university with some special rates!). It is very conveniently placed near the main town-hall, and although on a very busy street, the noise level from the traffic is minimal. The rooms are minimally designed with some some classic furniture and have all the basic amenities. However, the bed mattress is becoming slaggy and slaggy over years of use, and it will be nice to replace thems with more firm ones soon. The breakfrast arrangement with the neighboring restaurant needs improvement in terms of making freshly cooked eggs and better quality sausages and the choice of cheeses. Over all, quite a satisfied customer I am.

I wasn't thrilled with my stay here. The hotel is on an extremely busy 6 lane highway. Sure, it's within walking distance to the train station, Tivoli Gardens, and a busy shopping street, but the area has kind of a Times Square vibe. The rooms are minuscule, and the bed had a small blanket that didn't cover the entire bed for two people. The hotel had no extra blankets available...! The two pillows were tiny and flat, and you guessed correctly, there were no extra pillows available from the hotel either. I used some towels to bolster the pillow. The service was generally lackluster and disinterested. Also, we coincidentally stayed the weekend World Pride was being held in Copenhagen, and the pounding bass from the event down the street reverberated in the tiny room until 12:30 at night, two nights in a row... so check the city's events calendar. I originally picked this place because the design museum is closed until 2022, and thought this would be a fun way to experience some Danish design... the lobby is lovely, but it wasn't worth it to me. Wish I had stayed someplace else. The restaurant is very cute, I will say that.

Dear Theresa)1329, Thank you for your feedback and thank you for taking the time to write us such an extensive review. First of all, I am terribly sorry that we failed to live up to your expectations. It always saddens me when we do not make the impression we intend. It seems like we got it wrong from the get-go with the missing duvets and pillows - this should of course have been sorted out as soon as the issue was mentioned. Thank you for giving us actionable knowledge on where and how we can improve and further upgrade our hotel. Despite the mentioned shortcomings, I do hope you enjoyed your time in Copenhagen. Kind regards Anna Hotel Alexandra

This hotel close to the Town Hall and Railway Station is overrated and not worth the bother. Selling itself as a hotel that prides itself on classic design furniture is a cover for an antiquated hotel in need of modernization. There are no redeeming features or amenities that lift the Alexandra from the feeling that this is a mere boarding house hotel. Bathrooms are in bad need of modernization with cheap plastic soap dispensers that don’t work. The breakfasts are mediocre at best, served in a stark, cold room with no atmosphere. Try somewhere else!

Room - We had a Design Deluxe Double room on the fourth floor which was large with a balcony and beautifully designed. For the price we paid, sadly the bathroom was a disappointment. The shower had no power so I spent treble my usual time in there just trying to rinse out my shampoo. I understand it’s for eco reasons but when it’s inevitably going to increase shower time there should be a middle ground. It was also designed awkwardly and the shower (was over a bath) didn’t stick out enough to be over you’re entire body.
Also the strange toilet panel that looked like one of those Japanese loos didn’t work.

Location - On one hand it was great and we never seemed to be more than 20 mins walk from the hotel. Perfect for an afternoon siesta BUT… the traffic! The first two nights were fine but on Thursday night the sirens and voices woke me up several times. I can only imagine how loud it is on lower floors.

Staff were friendly although no one told us what happy hour was. Luckily I had done my research! Handing back the key every time was alright - a bit of a faff when you still have to have a card.

We didn’t have breakfast at the hotel so can’t comment on that but I recommend Venner (6 mins walk away) and Espresso House (similar to Starbucks) are dotted about.

I would choose it over next door’s Citizen M as I wanted space in the room but I’m not sure I would recommend Hotel Alexandra due to the noise. That said, it’s a beautiful hotel, good staff and nearly everything is walkable.

Dear Sheppsie Thank you for your feedback and for taking the time to write us such an extensive review. We love hearing about our guests' experiences so that we can learn where and how to improve. While I am glad to hear that your overall impression of our hotel was good, I am sorry to hear how parts of your stay with us worked out. I apologize that the showers water pressure was bad - this is not how it is supposed to be and we will make sure that it will be fixed. I am glad to hear that you liked our location, but I am sorry that you were disturbed by the noise from the street. Because the hotel is located where it is, it is, unfortunately, impossible to avoid a little noise from the streets. I sincerely hope it didn't disturb your sleep. Despite of the mentioned shortcomings, I do hope you had a great time in Copenhagen. Kind regards Mathilde Hotel Alexandra
