Walking into the Palace is walking straight into a snapshot of the early 1970's. From the long-pile carpet to the furniture and fittings, everything looks untouched from the days of The Avengers and Spacehoppers. That said, it's not such a bad place to stay. If, like me, you get a room at the front (with a small balcony), the views... more

First class hotel. Excellent, unobtrusive service.Ask for a room with a sea view - expensive, but worth it. Large, light, airy rooms with good size sitting area. Very good location, near the two cathedrals, overlooking the harbour, next door to the market, few hundred yards from the railway station. And only a few hundred yards from where the ferries from... more

This is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in, and I've stayed in many over the years. The staff was extremely (and genuinely) friendly. The view from the balcony made me not want to leave the hotel. The complimentary food is great and is available throughout most of the day. It is perfectly situated for the following: 1.... more

This hotel was clean, comfortable and adequate. It was also much cheaper than a lot of the hotels we considered, as we got a package giving us the third night free. We were in one of the standard rooms, which was nice, but had no view. The hotel's reception is on the ground floor along with the lounge, but the... more

First time in Finland, first time in Helsinki. What a world of wonderful suprises. Palace Hotel is ideally located for exploring by foot...the city is a small jewel and easy to navigate. We loved the haborside setting. Our room at the Palace was designed with every convenience, including blackout curtains to sheild the loooong days and very early morning sunlight.... more

Where to begin...the staff was incredible, they did everything from making restaurant reservations to mailing post cards. The rooms were very large, comfortable and clean. Breakfast was included and was very tasty. Location was great, right next to the harbor. more

I had just one night at the Palace, as a luxury end to a fortnight's touring in Finland and Russia. I wish I'd had longer! The location is excellent and the staff extrememly efficient and helpful. We left massive suitcases in their luggage room while we dived off into Russia for a week: when we eventually got into the palace... more

A very pleasant hotel, one of the best I’ve ever stayed at. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Situated right at the harbour it’s close to everything but the area is quieter at night than if you’d be staying right in the city centre. The hotel is situated across the Old Market hall and ferry terminals and just a few... more
