We chose this hotel about 25 km outside Helsinki because most others were booked up for the World Athletics Championships. The Majvik is situated in a rural town right on a rail stop on the intercity going west from Helsinki. We stayed in a sort of cabin with 2 bedrooms, a kitchen and living room, a water closet, and a bathroom/sauna combination. The setting was idyllic with a small park and a pleasant lake. The main building was full of business services and conference rooms, along with smaller guestrooms.

The hotel staff, while generally competent, didn't seem prepared for tourists. We had some difficulty communicating to them that we needed two separate rooms for the two families that had arrived to stay, and also for using laundry facilities. The staff also was unfamiliar with how to operate the sauna, although we solved that problem. Nevertheless the staff was quite accommodating.
