We stayed for three nights at Hotel Glymur and enjoyed every minute of it. The staff are very welcoming and the food served is exceptional. Hvalfjord is a beautiful, tranquil part of Iceland so the hotel is perfectly situated. While, it is also not that far from Reykjavík itself. We would highly recommend Hotel Glymur to anyone visiting Iceland. Siggi... more

Staying at Hotel Glymur was a joy. The staff are extremely friendly, and we were treated like family. The dining experience, in particular, was extraordinary. Hotel Glymur's restaurant is run by a second-generation Scandinavian master chef - Mr Helgi - who is one of the best in the world. It is worth travelling to Iceland just for the privilege of... more

We stayed at Hotel Glymur for 4 days (3 nights) in Jan 2009. The hotel is in a quiet remote location which was exactly what we wanted. The hotel staff are friendly, helpful and curteous, nothing is too much for them. I had numerous questions which I kept asking the hotel via email, each and every question was answered. The... more

My wife asked me what I wanted for my <ahem> 50th birthday present. I said, to sit in a hot tub with her, a glass of white wine and to watch the northern lights. Enter Hotel Glymur. We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived (it is in the middle of nowhere but quick and easy... more

Fantastic staff, super location, just really nice to stay. The hot top was great and with the northern light it made it an A. Go there and you will have the time of your life, we will be back! Patricia and Reinier Holland more

One of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. Friendly staff, beautifully furnished room, a fantastic view of the fjord (from both the room and the hottub) and great food. Breakfast was impressive, though my favourite remains the chocolate icecream, which was the best I have ever eaten outside of Italy. The place doesn't come cheap, but it's worth... more

we had seen the Glymur on the web before leaving for Iceland but it didn't fit into our plans, then. but we were badly let down by a summerhouse we had booked and needed somewhere quickly. what luck that the Glymur had space for all 4 of us for 2 nights. it was such a relief to arrive somewhere so... more

From the moment we arrived at the hotel, we knew we were visiting somewhere a little different. The welcome at reception was very warm - more like being welcomed into someone's home. The public rooms were spacious and roomy and filled with eclectic ornaments and pieces the owners have collected from extensive travel. Coffee and tea was on hand all... more

We stayed at Glymur more than a year ago, but I still wanted to share my review due to the excellent service we received during our trip. Glymur is an easy drive from the airport, Reykjavik, or the Snaefell Peninsula, our previous destination. The view from the hotel is amazing; the view of the hotel, not so much. Arriving at... more
