Grand hotel is a bit far from the center of Reykjavik. You need to depend on taxis and/or shuttles, unless you want to spend 20 minutes or so walking along a busy road. My wife and I pre-booked the Grand's Hogmanay Dinner in the Brasserie, which came with pre-dinner fizz cocktails, 3 course dinner and a view of the fireworks and dancing till 2am. This hotel is wonderful. Staff so kind. Room comfortable with great view of city and sea. Hotel restaurant was BEST food. Loved the chef - lobster bisque, lamb beyond heavenly, chocolate torte, and good wines! More

The location is not central. It takes at least 10 Euro to take a taxi to city centre or have to walk half an hour or more. However there is supposed to be a shuttle bus goint to city 3 times a day, 930 1200 and 1700. I may have wrong memory about the time. Check it. Go to the... More

Not so many facilities for a so expensive hotel. For example there isn't swimming pool and sauna. Just a crowded gim. Breakfast is rich, and personnel nice. The rooms are clean and large.
