Booked this as part of a discount package deal. Excellent location, just a block down from Laugavegur, and nice sea views (if you're on the right side). But fairly basic; very spartan bedlinen (thin quilt, slightly-too-small undersheet, pillow; that's it); no mini-bar or hot drink facilities in the room or indeed anywhere in the hotel (except when the bar /... more

Just returned from our first trip to Iceland, booked through Icelandair. Chose this hotel as it included breakfast. One of the best aspects of the hotel is its location: the sea/harbour front is about 100m in front of the hotel and the main shopping street is about 150m behind the hotel. Many of the main attractions of the city centre... more

The hotel is in a very good position. We used the buses from the bus station nearby to get to Perlan and to the largest swimming pool. The local small indoor pool is a walkable 5 blocks away and is lovely; so old fashioned, and with wonderful hot tubs open to the dark and rainy skies. The weather was awful... more

This hotel is in an excellent location, near the harbour and main shopping area. Some previous reviewers criticised the service but we had no complaints and found staff to be very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, warm and beds very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. OK no hot food but plenty of cereals, fruit, breads,... more

Like many others we stayed here as part of an Iceland Air package. We did not experience any of the problems others have identified. The room was clean adequately furnished and the bed comfortable. The lack of a view was of no concern as we were out all the time! Breakfast was plentiful and sufficient choice to meet most demands.... more

We stayed at the Fosshotel Baron for five days in October. Our room was clean and well-equipped, the bathroom was old but functional-- we didn't have the problem some reviewers mentioned with the shower water leaking out onto the floor, as long as we kept the shower curtain well tucked in! Breakfast was plentiful and fairly nice, the ladies working... more

Bookes an effeciency apt. no hair dryer, safe as promised. Furniture was broken. Alomist fell through dining chair. No place to put luggae or clothes away but one closet with a few hangers. used spare bed for luggage until bed dissapeared one day! Nice and warm - excellent location - and good staff. Breakfast was included and plentiful! more

We stayed here for 4 nights as part of an Icelandair package at the beginning of August. This was the best short holiday we have ever had. Having deliberated over whether to go for the nicer Nordica out of town or this one we were glad we booked the Fosshotel. If you are on a tight timescale which you will... more

Great location, and very nice serving staff. Breakfast is simple but very good. Free parking. Basic-ish rooms are clean. Good value. Ask for a room with a view! more

Our room was in the Baron end of the hotel. The roof was sloped which made the room feel smaller, but extremely quaint. The furniture was replicas from the Baron's time period. Very cute. The hotel is extremely well located for access to all the key points in the city. A little noisy at night. more
