My husband and I took a very short Icelandair trip to Iceland and chose Fosshotel Baron (or just plain Baron Hotel) from their list of options after reading reviews on here, and very grateful I am to those people who so rightly praised it. Probably not for people who want to stay in the hotel all the time, but the... More

This hotel is perfectly positioned: 3 mins walk to the sea front, 12 mins walk to the harbour, 3 mins walk to the main shopping street, 1 min away from a 24 hour convenience store. The staff are amazing- I am not able to single anyone out because they ALL were. They book excursions, give advice chat to you about... More

This hotel is a nice choice for access to downtown Reykjavik. The location is fantastic for both touring and the famous club scene. It is a short walk to all the sights of Reykjavik, but is far enough away from the clubs that you can't hear the bedlam. This hotel is typical of downtown buildings, modern style and stark. There... Good points: location, walk right up hill and then down street into center of city. Easy walk to bus stop, litle store right behind for groceries. Reception was helpful. Bad points: Hot water was AWEFUL smelling. Higher end hotels apparently don't have this problem. I mean aweful. Apartment was great for our family of 6. Would have been nice to... More

Fantastic location in the centre of Reykjavik behind main shopping/resturant steet and near the seafront. Quite a basic room but was very clean and comfortable and a perfect base for exploring (at the end of the day who comes to Iceland just to stay in their hotel and watch TV all the time!) Very helpful, friendly (and good looking!!) staff.... More

THE GOOD: The location of Fosshotel Baron is excellent. A short walk up the hill brings you right into the main shopping street of Reykjavik, with a lively selection of shops, bars and restaurants. The breakfast selection is very impressive, with all continental ranges catered for. However on busy days, the small breakfast serving area can get quite chaotic... Staff... More

Very good hotel for the price. Very accommodating, simple, has everything a person needs on vacation. Unless you plan on being in your hotel room all day, this place is perfect. Great location near the main street but still not too close so it's not in a loud area. Staff (Frans) was very helpful, they answered questions, booked tours and... More

We found ourselves here on the last night of our holiday as the Fosshotel Lind had overbooked. The Baron is close to the main shopping street and has 4 floors. It is not the Ritz by any means but it does exactly what it says on the tin. We were in room 326 which was slightly smaller than the others... More

Stayed for 4 nights here. It was very clean and fresh. Breakfast was great and picnic lunches are available. All staff speak English and are very helpful and knowledgeable. Jon on evening duty was especially helpful. Great location just a few minutes walk from lots of shops and restaurants. Would recomment to anyone.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, and would not hesitate in commending it to anyone. The staff were friendly, the breakfast was excellent, and everything was spotless. We were on the 3rd floor, and whilst the view was less than scenic, we were using it as a base. The location was very central, and allowed easy access to both the... More
