We stayed here because we were flying in late at night and picking up our rental car in the morning to head out of town and we didn't want to pay more than $100 for a place to sleep that night. The hostel was full and that is what led me to pick this guesthouse. It was better than I... more

This place was great - it's located well and just at the end of the main strip of shops, bars, cafes etc. in Reykjavik. The rooms are clean and tidy, as are the bathrooms. The staff were nice and helpful too. One really bizarre thing though - the curtains in the room are useless for keeping out the midnight sun... more

I really enjoyed staying in this. I loved the environment here and very closure to a 24 hour open supermarket where you can buy cheaper foods. Breakfast in the hostel is chaper and it is more convenient to eat inside. Their guidance and bookings for flybus is very commendable. more

Although looking a bit dated, everything worked and we had a private room at a reasonable (for Reykjavik) price in a brilliant location close to the city. The (24 hour) staff were very helpful - taking mesages, making bookings for us etc. Breakfast is extra - nice to meet others but not essential to pay for, as there is a... more

Geographically you'll never see a place like Iceland! It was a sweet, interesting place, with beautiful people, breathtaking sites, and, of course, the Blue Lagoon...need I say more!...The staff of the Salvation Army Guesthouse were so accommodating and pleasant. Since this was a long weekend trip, I wanted to see as much as I could and the staff lead me... more

This is a great hostel in a great location. Right in the centre of town. The airport bus stops outside. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We went as a large youth group, stayed in the dormitory accomodation, rooms were good, even had little bars of soap on the beds. The beds were fine for the style of accomodation... more

We stayed here for just one night, on the last night of our week-long trip in Iceland. It is in an unbeatable location. However, after experiencing great service and cleanliness in all of the other hostels and low-priced hotels places that we had chosen, this place left a bad final impression. The desk personnel was less-than-friendly and the breakfast was... more

Cheapest option in very expensive reykjavik. and you dont need a HI membership. bring a sleeping bag. only one key per room which could be a issue if you return late. the rooms are a bit small but the location is excellent, right in the heart of reykjavik. half a block from the parliament, and down the street from the... more

Wow, Iceland is the most spectacular place I have ever been to. Its stunning natural beauty is incredible. This hostel is not a place full of down and outs. Its cheap accomodation, which in Iceland is very very rare. Good customer service and help. Rooms were basic but did us fine, after all you only really sleep in them, and... more

I agree with a lot of the other reviews - yes it's essentially a very basic hostel, showing its wear, with less-than-comfortable beds, small rooms, friendly staff. However, it is cheap (again, in Icelandic standards) and the location is unbeatable. When we were there, there was a day of such incredibly gusty winds that walking was pretty difficult...i can't imagine... more
