I spent in Salvation Army guesthouse almost 2 weeks in August in 2010, when I came to Reykjavik as an erasmus student; as the apartment where I was supposed to stay was not yet available in August, I had to wait in Salvation Army until September. I definitely enjoyed my time in this Guesthouse: the staff was always very kind... More

The Salvation Army Guesthouse is a dorm all year long - even when there are not students you will find conditions to be that of any typical college. Shared bathrooms and I imagine that in a full room, it could be very crowded. But the location cannot be matched for such a great price. If you're looking for frills and... More

This guesthouse is very cheap and has a great location, but it's very noisy. The walls are thin, so you can hear everything from other rooms and corridors. At least in August the place was very crowded and people were making noise in the corridors from early morning until midnight, and past. The room we had was spacious, but quite... More

For accommodation in the heart of Reykjavik, this is definitely one of the cheaper options you can find, especially for those who enjoy nightlife since the bars and pubs are just out in the street near the frontdoor. Rooms are small, with just enough space for a bed and a sink for washing up, and a cupboard, with communal toilets... More

I spent three nights here in August 2012 and was impressed. The location in Kirkjustraeti, just a couple of minute's walk from the Parliament Building and the harbour, is excellent. Rooms are various - singles, doubles and dormitory accommodation. A single worked out at 8,500 ISK and represents good value in a pricey city.. Rooms are fairly small. Facilities are... More

We stayed at the guesthouse for two days. Despite the fact that there is no elevator, and we had to carry our luggage to the second floor which was quite tiring, the guesthouse has a very central location to the city centre yet the price is inexpensive. The facilities are simple but kept very clean. The staff are friendly as... More

This guesthouse is very well located and the prices are well below hotel prices in Reykjavik. Rooms are very basic and some of them (we saw 3 different) are quite small.  Only hand towels were provided. Room windows are very thing so the noise from  bypassing cars may wake you up in the middle of the night. Couple of odd... More

Checked in late at night in a girls only dorm (being a religious hostel), everything was nice, kitchen and showers not far away and always seemed to be available when needed. The location is very central, which is really nice. The price is quite average. Staff seemed friendly and let us have our computers stored while exploring the city. Had... More

If you are looking for an inexpensive place to stay in Reykjavik look no further. The guest house is a 1 minute walk from shops, cafés and sights. Staff are very friendly. The room, common room and kitchen are kept clean. Our triple room on the third floor (no elevator) was basic, but comfortable: three cozy beds, a chair and... More

We spent a really nice stay at the Salvation Army Guesthouse while we were in Reykjavik. This is a low budget solution and with the best location : downtown, close to bars, restaurants and main attractions. We could walk to every places from there. The rooms are small and the style a bit old-fashion but it did not matter for... More
