Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked end of 2019 (before COVID break-out) for holiday in July 2020 via Booking.com. We booked at fully refundable rate, they immediately charged our credit card for an advance payment. We were not worried at the time, but when we had to cancel our booking due to the COVID breakout, they didn't refund this advance payment! They never responded to any emails and when we contacted Booking.com, they called Apartments K and got the promise they would refund but never did. We finally got our money back from Booking.com (excellent service there). Now the apartments K are not on Booking.com anymore, so we probably were not the only ones with this complaint.

The apartments we stayed in were in a great location. Very central and generally we got parking outside each night which was great! We booked a deluxe studio apartment each (2 couples) however when we arrived we were told we were being upgraded which I don’t believe to be true as our apartment ended up being quite small compared to what the deluxe studio looked! It wasn’t very spacious and the bedroom was a fairly tight squeeze but my brother and his wife got an apartment above us which was double the size of ours but definately our apartment wasn’t a upgrade! The WiFi worked for the first couple of days then didn’t work after someone came in to hang the router, the hot water in the kitchen didn’t work for 3 days but apart from that the bed was comfortable, the little balcony at the back was a cute touch, the tele had a few English stations which was cool, the apartment was clean, kitchen had everything you needed, shower was fairly powerful, I would stay here again so I do recommend it however if your staying in apartment number 46 in the downstairs one don’t expect it to be big but if you were like us and only really slept and will be out all day then it’s perfect!

I called the hotel to explain my flight had been cancelled by Iceland air and also that my country were not permitting travel for tourism reasons due to covid19 crisis. My booking was 3 weeks away at first contact with hotel. They refused to change my dates or give any refund. Because I chose nonrefundable option. During normal circumstances you think this would be ok my own fault right. They have the full authority to change this policy as my agent booking.com have told me. I also explained I lost my job. They basically said so what. No refund and robbed my €600. Shame on you. Please share.

The apartament is comfortable and very spacious. Has cutlery, a washing machine and dishwasher, hairdryer, iron, kettle and toast! There was coffee sugar salt and tea bags. Shampo, conditioner and shower gel were provided (lovely scent!). The bed was comfortable, and the towels were nice and fresh looking (still very white). The apartament was however very dark (the light is very low and there is no way of making it brighter even if you turn on every lamp available). This was the only down aspect of it. If you rented a car, you don’t have free parking nearby! So be ready to pay for the hour (and it’s not cheap). Location is good, but town is so small that it’s hard not to be by the centre wherever you are :) I would stay again! Worth the money!

Stayed at apartment K with a friend for 4 days. We arrived Saturday afternoon. First of all, the location is not very clear, me and my friend had to walk a little bit in circles before finding it. The indication “In front of hard rock caffe” isn’t the best. When we finally found the place, there was no one in reception. There are some indications on the wall. You have to self check in (please bare in mind that there are two iPads, one for apartment K and the other for the other hotel). After this you get your room number and then you call someone to ask for a code of a safe, where the key of your room is. It feels a little bit like an escape room this process in all honesty. The apartment was very nice, has everything you need (coffee, salt, sugar, cutlery, iron board, iron, hair drier, dish soap, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel, so don’t bother to bring these things). However, I felt the apartment was Incredibly dark! Even when trying to increase the light intensity, it goes back to a very dim dark light, which is very bothersome. Luckily me and my friend didn’t spend much time in the house. The location is very good, central, but bare in mind that Reykjavík is very small therefore everything is very close anyway. There is a small 24/7 supermarket close to the apartment and you can park on the road ( but you pay for it, from 9am until 18pm). Is free on Sundays. Overall would recommended

We have looked around a lot for accommodation to stay. We knew that Reykjavik can be a bit expensive so we wanted to stay in good location in cente of Reykjavik and Affordable for us, so we can have plenty of pocket money spare for tours around the island. When we arrive to Reykjavik we got a call/ message, that our apartment has been change to different one. We were really pleased with the change. Our apartment was just right in the centre. Everything in walking distance. Bus stop, bakery shop, bonus store, souvenir shops, Culture house etc right on the door step. The apartment was very warm, bright and cosy. It had all the necessities for cooking. The shower was amazing. Bed super confortable. We were really surprised that apartment K provided a small cleaning during the stay, fresh towels, dishwasher tables and superb Y Soley shower gels. That was really kind a thoughtful. We would definitely recommend to our friends and others to stay with Apartment K and hopefully return next year again. Than you

The location of the apartment was near everything. The studio we had was small but equipped with everything we needed, and was very clean! Excellent for couples or friends travelling together. Good value for money too.

Stayed in a Budget studio apartment for 4 nights and was pleasantly surprised by the space and how well equipped the accommodation was. The location cannot be beaten, a minutes walk from the main street for shopping and bars / restaurants and 5 mins walk from the harbour. Information received before our visit via email was very informative, especially with regards to on street parking zones and charges for our rental car. Would highly recommend this accommodation which offers excellent value for money

It was very misleading between the pictures and actual apartment K we stayed at. It was very dirty and we felt almost sick after our 3 days there. There was black mold all throughout the apartment which is very concerning for our health given the location of the mold throughout the apartment. It was above our bed and right when you walked into the unit. We are looking to speak to Priceline and Apartment K owners as soon as possible as this is not okay and would like to know their next course of action as it has not been easy to get in contact with anyone. It also is concerning because they tried to just paint over it and black mold keeps coming back and even made it into the ventilation above our bed. We are concerned. -Alexis Lodico -Jon Dubowyk
