Have just returned from a 4 night stay and was a little worried about some of the reviews before we went but there was no need to be. Stayed here for a week at the end of hotel and thank goodness we had the fab Amathus to stay at as the weather was dreadful, rained everyday!!! The hotel is great and definitely 5 star quality inside and outside, but this all comes at a hefty price. The poor sterling exchange rate didnt help as everything is expensive. latte... more

What comprises a five star hotel ?? I'm not sure, but,overall, this felt like one to me. I had good service, plenty of amenities and options for eating and drinking, a spacious, well-equipped and comfortable room and a bathroom with nice toiletries, bathrobes and slippers ! The hotel is okayish, but this is not what should be expected from a 5-star-hotel. Everything is made to LOOK expensive, but if you look closer, cheap materials are used, furniture is dated, and there is no love for detail. The Canadian 'contigent' ,as the hotel calls it , is indeed a large military group. When I read about it and called the hotel, the hotel was avoiding to answer the question. Eight of us have just returned from the Amathus Beach. What previous reviewers have said about the hotel in terms of service and especially quality and range of food on offer are absolutely true- both are excellent.
