Paphos has been inhabited since Neolithic times; in the 12th century BC, the Myceneans built a temple to Aphrodite; Ptolemaic society built the Tomb of the Kings and the Romans left us some of the world's most beautiful mosaics. Down through the ages, the sheer beauty of the coast caught the hearts and minds of visitors - and still does - only, today, there is another seduction, Thalassa, an indulgent resort that justifiably boasts a holistic spa, superb cuisine and one-on-one butler service, an experience you would be lucky to find anywhere else. Set on a promontory where archaeologists are still working, the sea surrounds you on three sides so whichever residence you are in, the balcony enjoys a sea view. You get a choice of therapies in your room or by the water's edge, if you like! Gastronomically, you will be most impressed: seafood from the celebrity chef, New Cypriot cuisine based on old family recipes and teasing mezes to enjoy with a drink by the pool. The hotel will be open on 1st April 2004. more » « less

This review is a little retrospective, as we have only just joined trip advisor, but Thalassa was excellent, so well worth mentioning, even if a while ago now! We booked through Thomas Cook for a two week stay, which we requested as a honeymoon. And other than the usual sardine tin flight experience, we found everything to be excellent. On... more

We have just returned from a weeks stay at the Thalassa. We have stayed in many other 5 star hotels and I would say that although the service is excellent and all the staff were always on hand, the hotel itself Iis more 4 star than 5. We booked half board. Breakfast was great, lots of variety - fresh fruit,... more

The hotel itself is great with a great view and good pool. Rooms are not massive but very clean and have good balconies. We had a few problems it was very hot and we thought the airconditioning was not working in fact we were told it would not come on until the temperature was 28c! Luckily when we complained to... more

Have just returned from this hotel, we had a brilliant stay and the weather was fantastic and would recommend this. The hotel is located in a great spot and feels just far enough away from other things to really let you relax. Key tips from me: Bar is expensive but there is a supermarket 5 mins walk away and they... more

This would not be a bad hotel if it was sold as a good 3 star hotel. The rooms are dated with sofas and carpets 'IKEA' at best and bathrooms tiny. They give you two 3 star rooms interconnected and pretend it is five stars because ... there are sunbeds on the verandas etc.. I actually asked one of the... more

absolutely great - a haven of peace & tranquility. Although compact the hotel offers luxury, calmness and elegance. Nothing was too much for the lovely multi lingual staff who wait on your every move. Rooms were spacious, extremely clean, huge beds, fruit, all balconies with beautiful sea views, free internet cafe, free dvd's to watch, wonderful breakfasts and fantastic spa... more

We have just returned from a week spent at this lovely hotel. Everything about it was excellent and met or exceeded our expectations. We arrived at about 10 pm. We were met on arrival with a welcome drink whilst we booked in, and were asked if we wished to eat in the restaurant as it shut at 10.30 pm but... more

Fantastic luxury small hotel with excellent facilities and staff who could not be more attentive. Superb rooms, balconies & loungers the most comfortable ever! Dining experience a bit rich for every night so was glad we did B&B option. Surrounding area a bit too British with sports bars & english breakfasts on every corner so a car is needed to... more
