Hotel de France was actually a great deal! It is one of the two budget hotels in Monaco. I was traveling with a friend of mine, and we were on a budget. Monaco is really short of budget hotels (there actually are surprisingly few hotels at all) and Hotel de France is about the cheapest place in town. Hotel de France is a good budget option if you want to visit Monaco & Monte Carlo. As has been mentioned, the rooms are quite small but for me I'd rather a smaller room than paying a fortune in some of the larger hotels. I stayed here in 2004 & 2005, for the price it is in a quiet little location and does the job....gives you somewhere to sleep, is only minutes walk from port de hercule, they are very friendly and helpful...especially when i lost my pasport after getting hammered in the casino...they found it ;) if you would sooner save your ££$$... more
