I have stayed in the Taverne for 4 years now and I have to say it is everything you need from a ski hotel. It has good breakfasts, hearty dinners, a bar on site and the most amazing pizzas you have ever tasted. It is not posh and does not have the leisure facilities like other hotels in Obertauern, but it is about 50 Euros per night cheaper so what do you expect? It is in a great location – across the road to the Edelweiss lift, 2 minute walk to Lurtzeralm bar and 5 minutes to ski world. When Obertauern has had a lot of snow, you can ski right to the front door too! It does pride itself on its’ party nights, with erotic shows, karaoke and discos, but these tend to take place past 11pm when you will probably be in bed getting ready for an early morning ski! It is good for large groups also as it has a separate dormitory for these. We have contemplated moving away from this hotel a few times; looking at Schneider or Wagner, but always ended back here, in fact we have just booked again... more
