not certain how to best make reservations, I contacted the hotel directly via email and received very prompt and friendly communication from the owner, Johannes. Despite not having more than an email confirmation, I felt very comfortable and things worked out well (website for hotel is hauswartenberg.com) The rooms are well kept, clean, comfortable, and spacious, while maintaining the unique... more

This Inn is located about a 15 minute walk from the old town, but it is certainly worth the effort. It is a cozy, cottage type establishment with shady pine trees in the front yard welcoming you in. On the ground floor is a warm restaurant that serves good Austrian food and also doubles as the breakfast room for the... more

I really enjoyed staying at Haus Wartenberg. I stayed with my mom in room 19 on the top floor. The best part was the atmosphere of the hotel. It was very nice and quaint. The breakfast was superb. It was very large and delicious. It is close to a bus stop, so it's easy to get into the old city.... more

Stayed here in Dec 07 with my family (5 in total). Lovely location - 10 min drive from the airport and 10-15 min stroll into the Old Town. We were accomodated in the top floor of the hotel, occupying 2 rooms (3 singles + 1 double); Rooms 19 and 20 (?). The double room is ensuite - with the bathtub... more

Our family of four (with two young kids) stayed here for a couple nights. Overall this was a great choice. We had a very large room that accommodated all of us (kids had their own beds). The room was decorated with a mix of modern and eclectic antiques. Small but nice bathroom included a shower. Great location...walking distance to old... more

I had a great time at this hotel. I took a single room (one single bed) with a shared toilet and shower on the hall, but a sink in the room. The room was only 34 euros, which was a fantastic value, and this included a beautiful breakfast with yogurt, meusli, delicious Austrian cheeses and meats, coffee/tea/herbal teas, and a... more

The hotel is situated in a quiet suburb of Salzburg, an easy (10 minutes ish) walk into the old town. The hotel building itself is an old and attractive house. Unusual decor, religious paintings, old wall cupboards. The room was very clean and comfortable, and the owner and staff very welcoming and helpful. The hotel has a good restaurant; breakfast... more

My husband and baby and I stayed at this B&B for two nights, and would recommend it if you're not stressed about money. We paid 108 euros/night which I believe is more expensive than usual because it was over Easter weekend, a major peak season. It was a lot cheaper than other hotels I called in the Lonely Planet mid-range... more

This cozy, rustic house was a pretty great little find. The house is filled with antique furniture and has a cottage-feel. We stayed in Room 5, on the second floor which was a decent-sized room with an average bathroom. Everything was very clean, and the bed was the most comfortable one we found on our entire 10-day trip around Austria.... more

Haus Wartenberg is a really idosyncratic, quirky place, with statues and religious paintings everywhere, creaking floorboards and wonky walls , headed up by Johannes, the owner. It's a bit spartan, so don't expect any real luxury, but the breakfast is okay, it's 15 minutes stroll to the old town, and they're really friendly. Great value, very much recommended as long... more
