The Thon Stefan is a nice, nearly budget choice in central Oslo. Rooms are small by American standards, but pleasant, the bathroom is fine (and water pressure is awesome), there is an electric kettle and stuff for fixing hot beverages in the room. I found the beds comfy (others did not). I stayed there in January, so the problems that... more

Nothing in Oslo is inexpensive, but this was the smallest hotel room that I have stayed in this year during the course of all my business travel (even smaller than central London, if such a thing is possible). At $200 a night it seems that one could do better, but in this case the draw is that this hotel is... more

I've stayed at this hotel twice so far, so I'm going to review both visits. first time was june 2006. I was alone and travelled to Oslo for the first time. Had booked a singleroom via expedia. being used to crappy hotels in London I expected the worst. But I was very pleasantly surprised! the lobby looked as nice as... more

We stayed here 2 nights, Sat/Sun in late June. We booked/prepaid at the tourist info by the central train station. About a 10/15 min walk, mostly along a pedestrian street. Front desk personnel were nice enough, no more. Our room on the 7th floor overlooked the square and the court building - just in time to see a wedding party... more

Great location, diversified breakfast, but on friday and saturday's night too noisy. We stayed in a triple room, it was very spacious, with 2 toilets ( 1 with shower), the towels, soaps and shampoo were changed every day as the room cleanness were executed while we take the breakfast. more

Somehow they managed to lose my reservation. But after an amiable and helpful discussion and a couple of phone calls they were able to put me into the "spare" room (no windows) reserved for such circumstances This was ok as I mainly have my eyes shut when I'm in the room. It is very close to the city centre, restaurants... more

I was surprised I haven't written a review for this hotel before. I have stayed here at least once before. The hotel is about 15 or 20 minutes walk from the central station. It is very close to all the popular tourist places and nightlife. This means there can be alot going on in the evenings so it can get... more

I booked this hotel as part of the Oslo tourist card package. As Oslo is arguably one pf the most expensive cities in the world this was the most cost effective way of visiting the city. The hotel is conveniently located wihtin walking distance of the tram system and most tourist sights. Remember to check that they give you a... more

This hotel is in itself not bad. The rooms, though small, are adequate (though expensive by American standards). There are a few problems, however. 1. Noise: we booked this hotel for a weekend. Unfortunately, we discovered that it is in a very noisy neighborhood. In a city, one expects to hear the occasional siren or loud motorcycle. But the Thon... more
