I will say up front that there is nothing particularly wrong with this hotel, but as I was travelling on holiday I found it to be a little out of the way. It is "central" only in that it is at Central Railway station. One train stop further takes you to National Theatre and that is much more central as...

As a Oslo inhabitant who have previously stayed at the hotel I feel a duty to warn tourists about the hotel, especially given the rating on Trip Advisor.
A standard boring business hotel (based on feedback from friends/colleagues staying there recently) located in THE worst area of Oslo. Limited quality restaurants close by, far from the good shopping areas, and...

The hotel is conveniently next to the railway station with views over the harbour and, of course, the stunning new opera house (you must climb over it when in Oslo). The old town lies to the west and it's a pleasant and easy walk around the main attractions.
Inside the hotel is everything that you would expect. It's spacious, attractive...

First of all, the location of the Thon Opera Hotel is a very good one. It is directly across from the central railroad station, which is very convenient when you come in on the train from the airport. Short walk, no stairs, great. Then, though you might expect noise from the station, there is none, one of the nights we...

I stayed here for one night in November 2011. The hotel staff couldn't have been more helpful. The rooms were great and very comfortable. Breakfast was a wide selection of hot and cold buffet.
We were looking at the conference facilities for a work event in 2012 and the conference facilities were great and the staff couldn't have been more...

Good choice if you are looking for a hotel in Oslo which...

Located steps from the central oslo train station and a 5 minute walk to central oslo (20 minutes walk to national gallery) and right across the street from the new opera house. the rooms were very tiny (think london tiny), but had everything to be comfortable including fridge, international cable (with bbc and cnn) and small closet. The breakfast included...

We stayed there one night to see the Swan Lake at the National Opera. If not for the Thon Opera ticket service, we would not have been able to find tickets on a "short notice" (about 3 weeks?), so I am very pleased with that, the seats were excellent, the booking was hassle free and the hotel is right across...
