After reading some other reviews on TripAdvisor, I decided to take my chances and book a room at the Basic Hotel. I asked for a room high up (we got the top floor: room 505) and away from street noise ~didn't get that :( - ask for an even-numbered room. Our room was spacious and clean - no complaints there.... apart from the breakfast and location there's really not much else going for this hotel. the place is rather dated (everything but the reception) and the room that we got (we checked out a double and a twin) was really small, there was barely room to move with our suitcases. the walls very paper thin and we were woken up... If you need a quite hotel that's the right hotel for you. The room was quite small, but very clean at the same time. During my 5 day stay noone cleaned it or something, but I knew that in advance. Bathroom was very clean. The room quite small but efficient. Internet was very fast both In and Out. The place... More

The name describes it perfectly. No daily cleaning or breakfast, but for a couple of nights that's fine with me. Very nice staff and location is perfect, not far from the train station and 5 mins walk to the bus stop which takes you to the airport. Price was also one of the cheapest in Bergen

My sister and I stayed here for 4 nights in late November (Tuesday - Friday nights). We had a room on the 4th floor that overlooked the street We didn't experience any of the noise problems that other reviewers have mentioned but it may have been because we were up higher or perhaps because it was snowing the bars weren't... I have been there for three days. Bergen is a small city and you can reach anyplace walking. The hotel is like 5-10 minutes from the train station and very near to the bus stop to the airport. You can easily walk on the streets with the bags. The Hotel is located on a street with some bars, but i... More

Upon walking in the door, we were both pleasantly surprised and excited about our stay. It was well priced, looked very nice, and had all the amenities we required for our two night stay. Unfortunately, our excitement faded quickly. Here are the two main things that turned this hotel from an excellent experience to a poor one. 1. Dirty floors... More

As my husband has stated this hotel is getting very mixed reviews. The hotel's location is good for access to all parts of Bergen by foot and it only takes about 15 minutes (slow walker) to reach all parts off the main city. The Hotel is basic but for a crash pad it's more than adequate. The rooms are comfortable,... More
