Stayed at The Clontarf Hotel for a 3 day short break during half-term, with my wife and our two daughters aged 9 and 12, having first visited around the same time in 2008. This hotel is a real gem and I'm pleased to report that the same high standards are being maintained by owners Joni and Mark (who are unfailingly... more

Had a wonderful stay at the Clontarf. The food and atmosphere was great and staff were very pleasent, everything was presented at a high standard and the room was extremely clean and tidy. Beautiful location. I will be looking forward to staying again! more

Mark and Joni are fantastic hosts. I cannot fault the hotel at all. The room was very high specification and I stayed in the smallest room of the house, sea view and very modern finish. Really lovely. It genuinely feels like you are coming to stay with good friends, not going to a hotel and you are greeted warmly with... more

On first arrival we were met at the door by Mark, the owner, with a welcome and friendly smile immediateley we felt like we had known him for ages. We were shown to our rooms which have been recently renovated to what i think is a very good standard. The beds(ours was electric) are excellent, bathrooms (especially the power showers)... more

Rooms are ok. This hotel is being slowly done up and modernised. Unfortunately not all rooms are done and the standard of the rooms varied. We stayed in 2 different rooms as the first bed was not too our liking and the host kindly moved us to another room. The first room was partly completed but still had sloping floor... more

Just back from two nights stay and can honestly say staying at the clontarf was like coming into a warm happy home from home, due mainly to the hardworking and very genuine owners who consistently went the extra mile to ensure that myself and my girlfriend felt comfortable and happy during our stay. The quality of the rooms was high... more

Must admit was a little apprehensive prior to my stay as I generally prefer larger hotels and find smaller hotels/b&b's a little claustrophobic. Having stayed here, I can safely say this place has a very relaxed atmosphere indeed and you are left to your own devices whilst having the nice owners on standby if you need anything. The room was... more

Great place to stay, beautiful house in perfect situation on the West Shore backing on to the front so seaviews available in some rooms, including the one I stayed in Rm 7. This was a double room but it was small and just about right for one person, possibly two if very short stay, the bed was the most comfortable... more

What can i say? My other half and i decided we need a romantic weekend away from children and we couldn't have piicked a better place. We were met on arrival by Mark who took us into the lounge and offered us a cuppa and asked if we knew the area well and drew us a map of area and... more
