We had not planned to base ourselves in Ipswich and our choice of the Salthouse involved a number of compromises but in the end could not have turned out better. This is a lovely hotel with beautiful well appointed rooms. The location is perfect with great views of the marina. There is an excellent restaurant offering great food at a... more

Very pleasant hotel. Parking is rubbish but the rooms, food, location are all good. Shame I only stayed one night. more

After having a fantastic stay at the begining of the year, we decided to book again this May. We got a fantastic offer on what they call their 'Dine and Recline deal' which included dinner (as we did not get a chance to eat here last time). The room was superb, very clean, spacious and welcoming. I was very much... more

Stayed here in a "better" room - absolutely fab - lovely big room with dual aspect over the marina, fantastic outlook. Enormous 6ft comfy bed with quality bedlinen. Sofa, big telly, radio alarm and beverage tray. Sparkly bathroom with excellent toiletries. Ate in the bistro and had a great meal - good choice of wine. Had a fantastic stay and... more

Having a reservation at this hotel doesn't mean you have a room. I got a call short notice to say that they were overbooked and I couldn't stay there. I had chosen the location carefully for a business meeting and dinner with colleagues. Ipswich was fully booked so now I have a late night drive after a meal out into... more

My husband and I had an Easter break here. We booked a marina view room which was first class. Very clean, spacious and what a view. We liked that our room was made up twice a day. We ate in the resturant each evening and although the menu did not change very much - the quality was excellent and good... more

We booked this hotel on the spur of the moment just for a night away somewhere with dinner. It was a very pleasant visit. The staff were more than helpful and the room (on the 5th floor) was spacious and well appointed. A good sized bathroom with separate shower (always a good thing), good selection of fair sized towels and... more

My husband and I spent the night at the Salthouse and, overall, the experience was well above expectations. We booked via the hotel's website and took advantage of their 'winter warmer' deal (B&B in a standard room: £80 - an absolute bargain). The staff were friendly and professional and our room, with a side view of the water was immaculately... more

It is as you would expect from the website. Plenty of nice toiletries and a nice comfy bed. I was in a fourth floor standard double and had a lovely view of the harbour. I did not hang around the bar as it is tiny and in effect is part of the restaurant but there are a few nice places... more

This is an overpriced hotel. Although clean, and the staff from eastern europe friendly, adnams beer £4 per pint. There is no bar really as it is part of the restaurant. It is a renovated old warehouse. The breakfast was tiny and greasy. Would have been better off with the builders cafe around the corner. more
