Steve was very friendly and gave good instructions regarding finding the keys so we had high hopes that we had made a good choice for our overnight stop between Edinburgh and the Midlands. Unfortunately, although first impressions were OK, on closer inspection this was not the case.
There were items of washing-up on the draining board, presumably left by the last guests because there was no tea towel provided so we had to do the same. The fridge contained an opened carton of milk, some scotch eggs and a bottle of brown sauce. There was a frozen lasagne in the freezer and a part-used packet of breakfast cereal.
There was an odd assortment of mugs -mostly old, chipped, tea-stained and in need of a good wash. Out of the 6 plates in the apartment, no two were the same and there was a rather dirty pair of oven gloves hanging next to an oven that looked like it hadn't had a clean for many months.
