We offloaded the children and celebrated Valentines a few days late. Well worth the wait! It's the first time I've stayed here since the refurbishment; in fact the first time I've returned in around 20 years. It was wonderful - ticked lots of boxes; cafetiere & ground coffee, various herbal and normal tea bags, wonderful bed. Stylish and comfortable and... More

I have the continued pleasure of staying at the 'Cecil' in Stamford. Nick and his team of well trained and highly motivated staff have made extended periods away from home much more bearable. There is a warm and welcoming atmosphere about the place. The food is excellent, particularly breakfast, which is always served with a smile - even first thing... More

Having stayed at the sister hotel the Bull and Swan in Stamford a couple of months ago, I had a good idea of the style and décor that the William Cecil was likely to offer. The rooms, have three levels, Classic, Chic and Super Deluxe, I booked two Chic rooms and being extremely tall I requested a large room with... More

We stayed for two nights at the William Cecil in January 2011. We had booked a late deal and got a room for a good price. All the rooms are named after rooms at Burghley House which is just up the road and all have different decor, We stayed in room 11 called Chinois and the decor was on a... More

First off, I wasn't paying for my stay as I had won two nights with dinner and breakfast in a competition. That said, my wife and I were given one of the best rooms in the hotel. The standard and style of decor was very tasteful and all the amenities that you would expect were available. The food in the... More

A delightful venue. The hotel is imaginatively appointed. Decor is top class and rooms are sumptious. Our bed was fabulously comfortable with lovely linen and excellent pillows and the bathroom was toasty warm for a January stay with very good shower and bath. The staff are charming and friendly and made us most welcome, especially in the bar. Dinner was... More

We booked what we thought was a fabulous deal to stay at the William Cecil on 31 March with Voyage Prive. We received 3 mails, one to confirm our booking, one to send the invoice and another to thank us for booking. The very next day, we received an email to say that the hotel would not honour our booking.... More

Would just like to compliment Nick and his team for a second fantastic stay at the William Cecil. Nothing is too much trouble, it's like visiting an old friend as there is a warm homely atmosphere, rooms are lovely and comfortable and we again had a nice relaxing stay. Will be back again in Feb and at least another 5... More
